Default How to Recone a Sub

Materials that you will need.

Grind down the surround and where the spider lays down to bear metal. Then clean the entire woofer so no shavings are on it.
A card and masking tape works the best for cleaning out the pole vent.

Be sure to test the coils on the recone to make sure they are what you need.

1.5 ohms all way round babe.

test fit the recone.

Lay a nice bead of CA glue on where the spiders lay.

Be sure to line up the terminal leads before you spray the activator.

Put the shim in place and place the recone on the pole vent and get it into place.

Seeing as the Warden has a very small gap. I had to use a piece of paper. Usually note cards are acceptable.
And make sure the shim went all the way through the coil so its not touching anywhere. Line up the coil so you can move your make shift shim up and down easily.

Spray the CA glue on the spiders with Activator. After it dries. you don't have to worry about the recone shifting on you and you can take the shim out if you please.

Lift the surround up and put a layer of CA glue underneath.

Once finished. You can get the activator. Press down on the section of the surround you are spraying and squeeze out the CA and hold it for 20 seconds till the CA dries and the surround is laid flat.

If you are as cautious as I. You can do another layer of CA on the ring of the surround and spray with activator.

Time to put the dustcap on. Put a piece of tape on the center of the dustcap so you can hold it freely.

From there. You can begin putting CA on the ring of the dustcap.

Then place dustcap as desired on the subwoofer.

And put a ring of CA on the outside of the dustcap.

Then spray with Activator.

Then I like to place something heavy on top of the sub to put pressure on the spiders, surround, and dustcap to make sure it gets a good hold. I usually leave the heavy object on for 20 to 30 minutes.

After that time. Put the terminal leads into the terminals and prepare to solder.

Solder them hoes down and hope your not wasted by then.

After that. I always like to put another layer of CA on the spiders so there is NO gap and filled in nicely.

There you have it. A brand new sub. Now don't get too drunk.
