FINALLY, some sit down time!
I 'll start at the "birth" (to me) of this truck.



I picked this truck up at a fantastic price from a guy at work about 8 years ago. He was pissed because the rear brake lines rusted out on it and I capitalized on his anger and ended up with it for $1,300 bucks! It had no other problems..... Fast forward to about 3 1/2 years ago. After driving the hell out of it I decided it would look and sound great with some headers and a lift kit, so I bought some headers, a 2" body lift and 3" rough country lift kit. I finally got around to doing these jobs and it only took me one day to realize that that wasn't going to fly on this old, tired frame and leaky 186k motor. That's when everything fell apart.... literally!



Starting of course, at the front, I tore the dog house off it and was going to just do an onboard rebuild of the engine.That wouldn't do either, so I kept tearing it down as far as I could go......








Almost learned the hard way NOT to lift the cab from a strap arounr the top!



Spent a few weeks stripping the frame when I had time to and then using Eastwood products. Rust converter specifies to NOT clean the frame to bare metal, or it will have nothing to react with. Then used encapsulator over that.





Beefed up the rotting bushing perches....





The sandblaster we have at the mill helped a BUNCH for restoring all the parts!



This stuff is as hard as nails....

Lots of cleaning, putting, and new parts!







Hours and hours of polishing the aluminum brackets...





All new suspension, almost every piece underneath the truck is new...



Triple coated and painted tank and lines...



New bed steps and undercoated (herculined) bed bottom.





More new parts!



My nephew works at an automotive machine shop and did the motor for me at cost

Bored 30 over, flat tops, shaved heads, double roller, mild cam... Probably won't help a lot, but I ported and polished the TBI with new injectors added





I had to fab a bracket for the alternator to clear the tall cover, and I turned the back of the alt 30 degrees...



Found a decent core support without much rust at the boneyard and had it powder coated...

Lots of body work and panel, rocker and door replacement, now going out to finally get painted!











Currently, I'm fabbing up a prototype air box for a functional shaker hood scoop....

Thanks! It will have some new wheels and I'm thinkin' 33"s or 35"s when it's all prettied up.... Ran into some logistical problems with the shaker though, the engine on ours sits about 4" back than it does on the T.A.'s, so in order to make the shaker sit properly in the hood, I had to move the breather box forward. If not for the 2" body lift, i don't think there would be room to do this....



I also have the original hood surround that will be welded into a new hood because it has almost the exact same hood bump and a nice folded trim edge around the scoop...

Just an update for Y'all. The truck is in the paint shop and I've been by a couple times to check up on it. They are really taking their time and I think it will be nice when done! Got the sheet metal version of the shaker air intake done and it's at the powder-coater's for paint... should also be sweet!

You'll have to pardon the dusty hood and fenders in the shop.... I was able to take the scoop outside for some good sun pics. I think I like it!!!!!!!
